Weekend

For most of us, this weekend is likely to be filled with family gatherings, meals with friends, and holiday traditions. But when you feel the need to stretch out a bit, or to start enjoying the non-freezing weather, here are some tips for getting out and about (solo, or with the whole family in tow).

If you’re in the city with kids, the Maryland Zoo’s Bunny BonanZoo is always a hit. Zoo admission gets you in, and the kids can hunt for Easter eggs while exploring the zoo’s exhibits, and even enjoying some special entertainment.

For those looking for some kid-friendly Passover fun, head to Port Discovery on Tuesday for “Matzah Madness.” You’ll taste different kinds of matzah, enjoy Passover related stories, and of course get the scoop on the food science behind matzah.

Special menus abound for Easter dining. In particular, we recommend the offerings from Harbor East restaurants. The views and the spring air on the harbor make for the perfect location for your dinner reservations.

Later in the week (Wednesday, April 8), Slow Food Baltimore will host Cultivate Baltimore– an evening workshop about urban agriculture in our city. This is the first in a series that will address everything you need to know to  start growing food here in Baltimore.

And of course, if you absolutely must travel south on 95, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is on through April 12th. This spectacular event never fails to stun– and is certainly a wonderful way to celebrate the fact that spring is really, finally, here.
